Visiting the Grand Canyon is perhaps one of the most beautiful places that you have the pleasure of visiting. Summertime at the Grand Canyon is one of the busiest times of the year for visitors. For this reason, you should make your reservations in advance for your stay while on your trip or before your trip even starts. Reservations for hotels can be called in 23 months in advance.

El Tovar hotel is considered to be of the utmost architectural designed hotels for visitors of the Grand Canyon to lay their eyes upon. This hotel is located on the south rim. It creates a rustic look with stone and pine. This beautifully designed hotel is named after the explorer named Don Pedro de Tovar for which he is credited for introducing the Grand Canyon to other explorers. Another place that you can call home while visiting the Grand Canyon is also located on the south rim. It is called Bright Angel Lodge. A camp of the same name also exists on the south rim. This pioneer style lodge is made out of log and stone which makes it a great energy saver. Right beside the Bright Angel Lodge is the Phantom Ranch. Lodging here is ideal for those who wish to hike, backpack, or ride on mules around to explore the Grand Canyon. Be advised that the Phantom Ranch can only be accessed by foot, mule, or by a river raft.

Now that you have rested, it is time to get outside and explore that vast area of the Grand Canyon. This giant rock formation can be explored by the Colorado River, by hiking or biking, or walking around and just taking in the breathtaking view. The Grand Canyon offers guided tours that will show you the best that the Grand Canyon has to offer and they will make sure that you do not miss one single sight. The Grand Canyon village is a place to start your journey. From the east, you have a trail that extends through Mather Point. From the west, you will be upon Hermits Rest. Both will offer breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon. Besides the Bright Angel Lodge, there is the Bright Angel Trail. If you want to see the inner canyon, then this trail is for you. Now you are ready to visit the rim drives. These can be accessed by car or bicycle and they will have some of the most beautiful canyon views along with historic features.

A trip to the inner canyon is not a quick journey. It is worth it though. It can only be reached by the rim of the Grand Canyon and requires a 2-day hike with a backcountry permit that you must obtain or you can visit the inner canyon by mule. The South Kaibab and Bright Angel trails are two trails that will lead you to the inner canyon. Many other trails will offer you different and individually interesting options for your hike. The Bright Angel Camp and Phantom Ranch will accommodate you on your overnight stay will visiting the inner canyon. The Grand Canyon is a place for adventure and views unlike anywhere else. It is definitely a destination to be visited once, if not more.
